Meet our instructors

Joey Villani
Founder
Joey Villani's grooming career began at the age of nine and led him to own the Nash Academy in New Jersey, become a renowned pet industry speaker, judge, and TV personality, and receive numerous awards including the grooming industry's Man of The Year and the AKC leadership award. His contributions to the grooming world extend to his involvement with Intergroom International, the creation of the World Dog Expo, and efforts to standardize education for pet care professionals through the International Educational Consortium of Pet Grooming & Styling Schools.
Susan Sholar
Instructor
Susan Sholar has spent over 49 years in the pet care industry, working in various roles including veterinarian technician, grooming salon owner, and president of the California Federation of Dog Clubs, where she influenced animal-related legislation. She founded the California College of Pet Careers, judged AKC dog shows, developed the AKC S.A.F.E. Groomers/Salon Certification program, and now serves as the AKC delegate for the Black Russian Terrier Club of America, dedicating her career to improving standards and education in pet care and grooming.
Penelope Goddard
Veterinary Ophthalmologist
Penelope is a specialist veterinary ophthalmologist who enjoys teaching undergraduate students and practitioners about diseases of the eye. She has worked at the University of Pennsylvania's College of Veterinary Medicine since 2008.
